This in-depth video shows you everything about how I create the templates, how I use them, and different ways to fabricate your own

Available Templates

RC Rock Bouncer

This chassis is designed around the Axial Wraith drivetrain. Other vehicles could work as a base but you may have to adjust the scaling of the templates, for example SCX axles work best around 80%.

Currently this template set does not have the connection of the skid plate to the rails detailed, I recommend either using some sort of tab to bolt the portion to the chassis, or weld it directly to the frame rails.

Download the templates and print them, make sure Page Scaling is OFF, this is VERY IMPORTANT!!! Do not click fit to page. Print to ACTUAL SIZE.

SCX24 Chassis Set

Made for the SCX24 Budget Build off! This is a template for DIY side rails to accompany the 3D Printed cross braces.

unimog.jpg

Unimog Flatbed

This rear bed area is designed to fit the contour of the Tamiya Unimog cab. The chassis was designed to fit the Vaterra Ascender chassis initially. I am confident that this could also be used on an Axial SCX10 chassis. The wheelbase is best fit to a 12″ wheelbase (Vaterra Ascender 302mm chassis settings or Axial Deadbolt/G6).

Currently this template set does not have the connection to the rails detailed, I recommend either using some sort of tab to bolt the portion to the chassis, or weld it directly to the frame rails. This template was left in the early stages of development and was never finalized 100%

Download the templates below and print them, some of the sheets are on 11″x17″ but these are not the actual templates for bending, they are just reference sheets. So a standard printer will still get you what you need. Make sure Page Scaling is OFF, this is VERY IMPORTANT!!! Do not click fit to page. Print to ACTUAL SIZE.

Venom.jpg

Venom Chassis

This chassis is based off the Poison Spyder Customs Venom Chassis. PSC designed a killer truck and this small scale adaptation is based around a Wraith suspension and drivetrain. This is my easiest template to follow, in my opinion.

Currently this template set does not have the connection between the rails and skid plate detailed. There is a lot of time in this template to make it as easy as possible for people to follow.

Download the templates below and print them off on any standard printer. Make sure Page Scaling is OFF, measure the 1″ square box to check that everything is printing properly.

Moonbuggy.jpg

Asymetrical Moonbuggy

This chassis was based off of Justin Hall’s fullsize Moonbuggy, originally built by Campbell Enterprise, it has since been reworked into it’s current state. The asymmetrical chassis design is designed to the result of providing just enough clearance around the driver, who sits to the left side of the chassis, and the placement of the transmission and transfer case to his right. This is an odd sight to someone who may not be familiar with the theory.

The chassis plans were again scaled around a Wraith wheelbase (13.75″) and meant to be used with a Wraith skid plate. Modifications to scale could easily be made if you wanted to downsize for smaller axles. The chassis size was designed to match the proper scale of the fullsize version, not for maximum performance on the RC level. This is still a fairly large chassis coming in at approximately 1:7 scale.

These plans are in DRAFT status as I have not built my own to test and make sure the plans actually work. Currently these plans must be printed on 11″x17″ sheets. If you don’t have the ability to do it I suggest going to Kinkos, Office Max, Office Depot, etc. They can print them affordably. Make sure Page Scaling is OFF (Select Print Actual Size).

Mega Truck.jpg

Mega Mud Truck

King Sling and trucks like it were the original inspiration behind this truck.

This is one of my favorites! This chassis is best when built for either AR60 (Wraith, Ridgecrest, Deadbolt) or Mad Force axles. The tires shown below are Traxxas Emaxx tires that have been narrowed to 1.5″. A nice tall tire on a 2.2″ wheel works well with this chassis. I suggest the RC4WD TTC Baja Claw.

Be advised, that you should check the fitment of the B-pillar hoop (the hoop that would be just behind the drivers head) to make sure that it fits with the body that you plan to use. After adjusting that, just match up the rest of the bars to the modified shape, adjusting the other pieces should not be required. Shock mount tabs and the center transmission plate are not shown and are to be added by the fabricator.

Scout.jpg

Scout 800 Woods Runner

The inspiration for this chassis was based around a build I found on Pirate4x4. It was just a clean rebuild of an original Scout 800.

This chassis is designed to be built with 1/8″ solid rod and welded to an SCX10 chassis. It is not designed around any specific body and the hood is quite long which is based on the scale of the fullsize truck it was drawn to mimic. My personal build used hand formed steel panels but I am sure that there are lexan body options that will work.

The stock Axial shock towers will work with this chassis, these chassis plans are a cosmetic addition to the SCX10 chassis. However you can remove the stock shock towers and fabricate your own mounts onto the chassis as I did in the rear of my personal build.

Goat Built.jpeg

Ibex Goat Built

This template is designed to be scaled perfectly to the fullsize version of the Goat Built IBEX 2-seat chassis when used with an Axial Wraith wheelbase. Skid plate and shock mounting points are not included in this template and need to be designed by the fabricator. This is a very basic template and leaves a lot of room for bracing and customizing by the builder. This is also a large chassis since it was truly scaled to the drawings that have been posted on the Ibex site.

enviate.jpg

F1 Chassis Concept

The design of this car was based around the rough inspiration of the LoveFab Enviate Pikes Peak car but changes were obviously made to make this more solid axle and bashing friendly. This chassis is designed around the Axial Wraith drivetrain. Other vehicles could work as a base but you may have to adjust the scaling of the templates, for example SCX axles work best around 80%.

This chassis has the main components detailed in the templates but much of the bracing is not fully detailed. I was running out of time to finish this project and had to make do with what I had time for.
